OUR LOVE STORY

Carla and Mackenzie met at Fort Leonard Wood in June of 2017 when Mackenzie was divinely assigned as her sponsor during their time in the Army. Carla was originally set to go to California, but in an undeniably divine way, God rerouted her and sent her to Fort Leonard Wood and this would be the start of her forever after. 

Mackenzie worked diligently with Carla during her transition from Germany to Fort Leonard Wood. Little did he know, she would become his wife. While serving together as commanders, they found common ground everywhere they turned. From their careers to fitness, to church, they were similar in heart, soul and mind.   One Sunday, one of Carla's mentors made a recommendation about a church that she should go to. New to the area, Carla gladly attended and guess who she ran into after service? Mackenzie of course. After church ended, Carla and Mackenzie talked until the church emptied. 

After church that day, Mackenzie asked Carla if she would accompany him to a day out in the Ozarks and Carla politely said, "Yes." After all, how could she turn down those pretty hazel eyes?! Not long after their Sunday brunch, Mackenzie asked Carla for her father's number to tell him how good of a job he did raising her. Or so she thought! Shortly after giving her father's number to Mackenzie, Mackenzie went on a fast and prayed to seek God for direction as it related to Carla.   During Mackenzie's prayer and fasting, Mackenzie called Carla's father, his parents and pastors for permission to court her. After receiving their parents and pastor's blessing, Mackenzie completed his fast and called Carla. It was then that he asked her to meet him at the local Starbucks where he would ask her to join him in a courtship with purpose towards marriage. 

During their courtship, they attended a 12 week Marriage Seminar called “Marriage on The Rock.” After 18 months of courtship, Mackenzie knew Carla was the one and proposed to her on March 31, 2019 and they have never looked back. They wed & shared their first kiss at the altar on July 4, 2020 in a regal ceremony in the midst of close family and friends at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel.
